yeah, i changed things. more springish i think. i'm not really happy with it though. i had a couple others picked out, but couldn't make them work with blogger. this will do for now. i have been thinking about trying out someone else, but i dont' know if i'll be any happier else where, unless it upgrade to one i'm paying for. i keep talking myslef out of it though, cause why pay for something that i'm getting free now, even if it can be uber frustrating? maybe i'm just having a cranky day. DH is working, and i have had lots of time to myself to drive me crazy. if you have made it this far, stop reading my babble and go do some thing fun!

I am making progress on my magicloopsockthatrocks sock. Still not big on the name. I’m kind of leaning toward Henry. Anyhow, today I will be starting toe decreases and should have a picture of a finished sock for you next week.

Remember back when I bought that lovely Noro silk? Well, I started a purse from Modular Knits (Picture of purse on bottom) I like the way it’s turning out. Maybe I’ll have more time to work on it this weekend…

I thought I would take a picture of my pedicure socks

Then I thought I would try again (for a better shot), but by that time (a matter of seconds), I had help…

Then it seems the camera was more interesting (I think we heard the click), because for the third shot, this was all I could get…

Anyhow, these are the pedicure socks from the latest knitty made with knitpicks sock memories in the Easter color way. I chose it because I started them Easter weekend. They knit up quickly, and the only modifications were I had to adjust number of stitches for different gauge of yarn, but I didn’t want anything quiet as heavy as the Pattons called for.

Here is a real picture of the socks… (after i kicked the dog off)

THANKS JENNI!!!

My husband has always says that I’m a spoiled brat (not that he does anything to promote this…) Well now Jenni is helping. I was lucky enough to have Jenni as the one spoiling me for the Needle Exchange Wow! Did she go above and beyond! Check this out…

A whole box full of goodies! And it’s like she knows me because she hit me bang on the head! (if I were a nail I mean)

There is a cute little sheep (still looking for names, if you have an idea, leave a comment and let me know…), a Homemade!!! box for knitting accessories with a variety of needles inside, a huge skein of pink merino wool (looks hand dyed/spun!?!), the longest, tiniest Addi Turbos I’ve seen in my life, on book on how to do magic loop, and a skein of socks that rock in the Queen Rock color way.

First thing I did was call DH at work to tell him about the package, and inform him there would be no dinner last night. What does it say that he totally got that? (I’m not that mean, he did get stew, but I do like to threaten every once in a while ;->) Then I had to take the above picture, or the guilt would have gotten to me. Then dog and I sat down on the couch with my new Addi Turbos (Turbi?) and the magic loop book, and some old scraps and made these (sheep supervising of course)…

On is a practice loop and the other is a ‘sock’, actually, it really only a toe and a heel. I have to say, I think I am a convert! I have tried the socks on two circs, but there were needles and yarn ends everywhere! It was neat, but seems a little more complicated. It seems to me, on magic loop, you shift stitches less, and you have 2 needles instead of 4 to work with. Am I giving up my DPNS? Probably not. Will I be taking this in the car and on vacation this summer? You betcha! I have already cast on my first sock (out of socks that rock, of course) so will hopefully have pictures of this for you in the near future.

So, if I’m MIA for the next while, I’ll be on my couch (or deck, weather permitting, but they say it may snow tomorrow(copy, pasted directly from theweathernetwork.com)) with my dog and my sock…

I used to crochet. Years ago. I bet I made thousands of granny squares. Sewn up one way, they’re a blanket. Sewn up another, they are a vest. You can understand how boredom ensued. I think that is where my desire to learn to knit came from. Well, now crochet is back. And it’s cool. And not just because my grandma says so. Because the cool lady who wrote the stitch ‘n bitch books says so. So I had to check it out. There are mile a minute style scarves (which I dabbled in, but never got serious about.) There are clothes that are made of something other then granny squares. There are practical items as well as clothes. There are items that have no practical uses at all, other then to be cute. I decided that I should maybe give crochet another try, and so I present to you my first scarf (in at least 10 years…)

This is the one skein scarf scarf. It took me less then two TV nights to make. Man, crochet IS fast! I see the appeal. I’m too in love with knitting at this point to be a turn coat, but I do see more crochet projects on the horizon… besides, it was nice to work with my hands and be reminded of my Grammy…

I got jealous. I admit it. Looking at everyone’s great sock bags, I wanted one. Here is Gina’s. Here is Beth’s. Now here is mine. It’s kind of a hybrid, with a little padding thrown in.

I have a couple ideas of things I would do different if I were to do it again, but over all I like the way it came out.

We went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at the cheap theater this weekend. It was so well done! Why didn’t it get more awards? We thought it was all very well done. (By ‘we’ I mean me, DH, my mom, dad, grandma and nephew). Now I need to squeeze a little out of the knitting budget to buy it!

I am reading The Regime- by LaHaye and Jenkins right now. Ok, that is a lie. I’m starting it tonight. Inkheart was fabulous! If you like young adult fiction, or science-fantasy, this is a definite must read.

lavender pink, dilly dilly...

When we were at the retreat one of the ladies (I could be wrong, but I think It was the LYS owner?) came by and gave us kits to make lavender sachets. I’m done, and love it! I wish I knew what the yarn is; it’s kind of a silky cotton. I would like to make something else out of it, I think. Anyhow here is what it looks like.

It is already in my linen closet.

It was the first time I had knit something, without knowing what the finished product would look like. It was so much fun; I would do it again sometime

Jaywalkers

Jaywalkers are done!

I think I like (not love) the finished product. I made them out of Knitpicks cape cod . It was a little thicker and knit up fairly quickly. It made a pair of socks that are a little slouchy, but I think fine for wear around the house. I found myself having to sit down and make myself work on the socks, but I don’t know if that has anything to do with the pattern or my frame of mind. With that said, I think that I am going to like wearing them, and I do like the way they look.

Sometimes I can’t believe they let me leave the house! Ok, so I didn’t get in as much 'trouble' as I could have, and man it was fun!

We (my friend S, DH and I) were supposed to go have dim sum for brunch on Sunday, but the restaurant was closed, so we postponed it until next month. Instead we landed up at Brewster’s off Eau Claire. It was ok. I thought it a little expensive, and didn’t feel like I got what I paid for (quality), but whatever. I admit that at least part of that is my fault, as I have never been one of those people who can stand up for themselves and send something back, I feel like I am making a fuss.

So after that, we went exploring. We went to two new yarn stores I had never been in Make One Yarns and Pudding Yarns (sorry, I couldn’t find a link) the ladies in both stores were kind and helpful and attentive. M1Y even gave me coffee while I browsed! Let me tell you, that was my seventh heaven! Coffee and yarn! Throw in a couple of good books, and I may have moved in! Wanna see what I came home with?

Much yarny, yummy goodness! I walked around all day, just petting my purchases(please tell me I’m not the only one that does this) and the Lorna’s Laces Angel has taken up permanent residence on my coffee table.(and that is only because DH won’t let me bring it to bed!) This baby isn’t gonna be ‘stashed’.

Good day, with good friends, mediocre food, and great yarn and decent weather.

If you have a chance, head over and give Gina some love. Her Sunday wasn’t nearly as good as mine. She really needs some good vibes.

I love knitting. I love Grey's Anatomy (thanks Jennelle!). I love this button. Don't know where I found it, or who made it, but thanks. :D
