it's monday! what are you reading? (july 25)

It’s Monday, what are you reading? is hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey.

This was a good reading weekend. It was pretty quiet here for the first time it weeks. So, our time was spent playing video games, reading, writing,(isn’t it great to be an adult? ;) ) and doing things around the house (cleaning, shopping, ect.). I finished The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen. Fabulous read! So far it’s my favorite book of hers.

I am still working on The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (as my kindle book). I am about half way done, and LOVING it. It is VERY hard to put down. Except for the bat chapter. I had to go read something else for a while. It gave me the heebee geebees. If you have read this, you know what I am talking about. If you haven’t, I won’t spoil it for you.

My new paper book is Sarah’s Key by Tatiana De Rosnay. I am hooked! Once again, a great read, I am asking myself, why it took so long to pick up? It flips between two perspectives, by the chapter. One is a ten year old girl in Paris in 1942. When her family gets rounded up to be sent to a Nazi concentration camp, she locks her brother in a closet to hide him, assuming she will be able to come back for him soon (she doesn’t know where they are going). The other is a journalist and a mom (in 2002) who lives in Paris (and I’m not sure, but I suspect she is moving into the apartment of the previous little girl). She has been assigned an article where she has been asked to research that day in 1942. As much as I want to sit down and devour this one, I have had to put it down and walk away at times, as I have felt so overwhelmed by sadness. It is so well written, at such a great pace, one can’t help but be intrigued from page one.

So, it looks like today I have a mystery, a young adult, and one I would classify as ‘literature’. What is your preferred read, to while away the hot summer?

If you want to play too, go to Sheila’s page and leave your link there, but also please let me know so I can come visit. Thx =D

I have only read one Tess Gerritsen book and it was a stand alone, but I loved it and plan to read more.

Have a great week!

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! I'm really liking Fallen so far, so it'll be interesting to see if it holds up to others recommendations. The Awakening is on my TBR list. I loved The Summoning, but I have to get through some of my borrowed books before I can get to it.

Happy reading, friend!
